ABOUT ME

Stay-at-home, homeschool mom :)
I have a blessed life! I am married, have 4 wonderful children, and have this opportunity to carry out my passion. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 6! I was the "teacher's pet" through elementary and middle school and tutored my friends and peers in high school. While in college, I tutored others and taught multiple homeschool classes to the children of friends. I got my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and began my dream of teaching at an elementary school here in Graham, NC.
After teaching for a few years in public school, I had my first child and decided to stay home. Since then, I had taught a few homeschool classes and tutored for grades ranging from 2nd-8th, including teaching to read. I began teaching classes in my home for the 2017-2018 school year. I feel very thankful to have the opportunity to teach classes in my home and be able to include my children. I am very confident in what I do and have a passion for teaching young people! My hope is that I have a positive impact on their lives and care for learning.

As far as teaching goes, I do not use a curriculum right now through the elementary grade, K-5. Being a former teacher and plenty experienced, I feel confident in my skills to teach and am knowledgeable in what they need to know at each grade level. I do base my grade level curricular topics off the standards set for the state for public schools, then teach in a way that is comfortable for me and for my students. I try to make things fun when appropriate and I do push students to their highest level. Kids are sponges and will soak up everything you give them...sometimes it's a longer soak time :) I love parents to feel free to ask how I do things and be involved in their learning time with me during the year. Parent involvement is a rare thing in the public school life, so I greatly value it when it is there. I'm thankful for this opportunity!
